Dr. Heather Rife graduated from Kansas State University of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. After completing an internship at New Haven Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine, she joined Dr. Julie Tremblay as an owner of Veterinary Associates of East Haven. Dr. Rife’s focus is on small animal medicine and surgery with a special interest in small mammals including rabbits, ferrets, and other pocket pets. In addition to veterinary medicine, she also helps dog owners with their pet’s behavioral issues. In her spare time, Dr. Rife is involved in dog agility competitions and Earthdog. She is also an avid gardener.
Dr. Stephanie Faubert attended the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and acquired her clinical experience at Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. She has a focus on Small Animal Surgery and has a special interest in small mammals (rabbits, guinea pigs, etc.) Dr. Faubert recently moved to Connecticut from Ontario, Canada. She currently has three cats, a rescue Catahoula Leopard mix named Tika, and an Australian Shepherd named Huxley!
Dr. Callie Tatro graduated in 2014 from The University of Glasgow which is located in Scotland. Following veterinary school, she then participated in a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Atlantic Coast Veterinary Specialists in Bohemia, NY. Callie lives in Woodbridge CT with her two dogs, Jenny and Phil, both of which were adopted as rescues.
Dr. Samantha Barscz graduated from St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine located in beautiful Grand Cayman. She completed her clinical year at Oklahoma State University. As soon as she moved to Oklahoma she adopted her torbie cat, Clarke, who is full of personality (and sass). Dr. Barscz loves fostering kittens, especially bottle babies! Her other cats, Pixel and Biscotti, were both foster failures. She raised Pixel from 5 days old and Biscotti from 5 weeks old. Dr. Barscz also rescued Selly, her Coconut Retriever, who came from the island of St. Kitts. Dr. Barscz enjoys hiking, reading, and crafting!
Jackie has been in the Veterinary field since 2013 and she has been an integral part of our practice since January of 2018. Her favorite aspects of veterinary medicine include anesthesia management, surgery and interacting with clients. Jackie has three dogs, Cookie, Zeus and Ellie as well as a bearded dragon, Odie and lots of fish. Jackie likes to spend her time with her husband and family as well as hiking and fishing.
Melissa’s love for animals began very early in life and her childhood was spent caring for a variety of animals from cats and dogs to frogs and birds. Following High school her career in veterinary medicine began right away and she came to Shore Haven in July of 2017 as our Surgical Technician. Melissa enjoys surgery, the challenge of emergencies and learning about exotic medicine. At home Melissa and her family have several pets and keep very busy hand raising baby orphan animals, fostering and staying active in the rescue community.

Tanneil started in the veterinary field as an assistant and worked her way up to veterinary technician. She joined our technician team in early 2019. She is very knowledgeable in canine behavior and is also a professional dog trainer. Tanneil has 4 cats, 2 rabbits, fish and a puppy on the way. In Tanneil’s spare time she likes to hike, color with her daughter, and dog train.
Steph began her career in veterinary medicine in 2014 as a receptionist and worked her way up to a technician position in 2016. She has been a part of the Shore Haven family since July 2019. In her spare time, Steph enjoys spending time with family and friends, her fur babies, practicing yoga, and furthering her education at Gateway Community College. She has two kitties, Marley, aka Marmy, a sassy yet sweet 8 year old long haired tabby who prefers head pets on her terms & her mom's attention only. And Cordelia, aka Beep, a sweet 3 year old rescue cat who enjoys belly rubs, spending time in any empty box, giving kitten kisses, and cuddles.
Jeremiah has been working in the veterinary field for over fifteen years. He has also been a farmer, tank driver, CNC machinist, daycare worker, lobsterman and fantasy and horror author. He has lived on three continents and currently shares a century-old New Haven house with his wife, two daughters and Oogie, a genuine, purebred American Mongrel. Rats and cats, especially calico cats, are Jeremiah's favorite patients. His spirit animal is a one-eyed calico. In between hospital shifts and loads of laundry, he enjoys knitting, reading, playing video games, and choosing obscure European science fiction movies on family movie night.
Ana has been in the veterinary field since 2014 where she started in kennel and worked her way up. She has been at Shore Haven Veterinary Hospital since 2019. She has two cats, Patches and Ruger, and one dog, Lily. Patches is a wise and cuddly 13 year old brown and white tiger, Ruger is a very mischievous 1 year old all black kitty, and Lily is a crazy 6 year old black and white lab mix. She is attending Gateway Community College to further her education. In her free time she enjoys spending time with all her her furry children, going on hikes, and traveling.
Sarah started her career with animals in high school. She had volunteer jobs at a wildlife rehabilitation center with small mammals, exotics, and farm animals, as well as working on a ranch. In 2013 she became a groomer. She knew that her work with animals was indefinite and wanted to expand her knowledge in animal health care. In 2017 she began her journey in the veterinary field as a receptionist and graduated into the technician field. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking with her dog, working out at the gym, and watching Korean dramas. Her furchildren consist of Shyla and Willard. Willard is a 1 year old mustached cat that was dropped off to Shore Haven as a feral kitten. He enjoys his mother and father's company only, and truly loves his dog friends. Shyla is an energetic, social pup at a young 11 months old. She has a boundless amount of energy and loves to play with her cat brother and chase laser lights.

Alysha started her career with animals in 2007 when she started work at a North Branford dog grooming shop. From there she moved on to a local doggy daycare where she worked then managed for a total of 7 years. In 2017 she joined our staff here at Shore Haven Veterinary hospital and since has become an important part of our medical staff. She started in the kennel, then did some grooming and has since become a veterinary technician. She has always had a passion for working with , and helping rescue animals. She shares her home with four rescued pit bulls, Sam, Monty, Zula, and Colt who she considers her children . In her spare time she enjoys doing work with animals , spending time with family and friends, and gaining more knowledge in the field of veterinary medicine.
